Periodontics and Periodontal Surgery

Periodontics is a specialty within dentistry that focuses on the examination and treatment of the periodontium. The periodontium is the supporting tissue of the teeth and consists of the gums, the jawbone, and the fibers that hold the tooth roots in the jawbone. When the periodontium is affected by inflammation, it is called periodontitis. Periodontitis can be one of the causes of bad breath (halitosis).
Bleeding gums, bad breath, and loose teeth are signs of gingivitis and periodontitis. It's important to detect and treat gingivitis and periodontitis at the earliest possible stage. For this, we'll perform a periodontal examination of your gums. Initial periodontal treatment consists of a thorough cleaning of your teeth and root surfaces by the dentist. This also includes a strong focus on optimizing oral hygiene. After three months, the periodontal status is reevaluated, and in some cases, further treatment is necessary.
Regular check-ups and adjustments if necessary are crucial for maintaining stable periodontal health.
